Other filters are designed to be most effective only when they are clean which results in poor performance and constant maintenance. Frequent cleanings destroy living bacteria that make filters work. Savio filters work with the dynamics of nature. They run at peak efficiency when the filter media is dirty, so maintenance is kept to a minimum. The system mimics the natural fitration processes in a living pond. A built-in settling chamber with a bottom drain collects solids before they pass through the media. The main filter chamber is loaded with easy-to-clean, non-clogging Savio Springflo Bio Filter Media. Savio Springflo effectively removes solids from the water column and provides maximum surface area for the beneficial bacteria that render toxins inert and break down organic waste. A final micro-filtration phase "polishes" the water to produce cleaner, healthier looking water. The filter housing is injection molded, super tough, and non-collapsing. Savio Livingponds Filters can be run side-by-side to create large waterfalls or can be joined in series for greater filtration. A single Savio Livingponds Filter is effective for up to 5,000 gallon ponds. It provides the highest amount of surface area for beneficial bacteria with the greatest clog resistance.
