Ways to Repair Hole in Your Fish Pond
A garden pond not only provides an interesting feature of the landscape, but also a source to see wildlife. Wild animals such as birds or squirrels can use your pool as a place to bathe or drink. But when your pond develops a leak, it may stop any enjoyable activity, and it is really a time consuming and costly to repair. But you can fix the pond itself quickly by using a repair kit for pond.
Instructions
- Remove fish to a tank of large fish for a few days while they repair the leak. Fill the aquarium with water from your pond for the fish do not have to adapt to a new aquatic environment. Use the aquarium filter and circulation system to keep water clean and aerated.
- 2 Allow the pond to drain the lowest point, of course, you lose. This will help you locate the leak quickly. Once you have found the leak, mark the edges of it with chalk.
- 3 Consumption of the lagoon complete with a hose and a pump to divert water. Clean the area around the hole clean with detergent to remove all the mud and use a patch to adhere to the pond liner pond.
- 4 rough up the area around the hole with steel wool. Trim Patch pond, so it covers the hole completely, and overlap on all sides.
- 5 Apply the adhesive side of the pond, and a patch over the rupture of a leak proof liner.
- 6 Press the pad glued to the field of bus traffic. Hold the two parts together until the glue bonds. Let the glue dry before re-filling of a pond. Dechlorinate water and return to the pond when the pond water is stabilized.

Wireless Enabled
Wouldn’t it be cool if the Radion communicated wirelessly with other Radion units and coordinated with other EcoTech equipment?
Well, it does.
Radion lights will communicate with any EcoSmart “w” enabled VorTech pumps in addition to any future equipment designed to work on the EcoSmart platform. Coordinated night mode, storms and other light- and water-synchronized features are what you can expect from the wireless functionality that comes standard with the Radion.
Radion Software
Unlock the full potential of the Radion XR30w with the EcoSmart Configuration Utility. Connect to a Windows PC and create customized lighting periods with fully adjustable spectrum and intensity. Opt in grouping and weather features are also enabled.
Battery Backup
The Radion is fully compatible with the EcoTech Battery Backup.
In the event of a power outage, lack of light energy over the aquarium results in corals switching from photosynthesis (producing oxygen) to respiration (consuming oxygen). When used with a Battery Backup accessory, the Radion emits low levels of light intended to prevent corals from respiring, and therefore; your Radion will help to maintain an oxygen-rich environment for your fish during this critical time period.

Peppermint Shrimp on Sale 30% OFF (Oct 21-23)
WHY EVERY REEF TANK SHOULD HAVE A FEW PEPPERMINT SHRIMPS …..
The Peppermint Shrimp is best known for its natural ability to manage nuisance Aiptasia, or glass anemones. Keep in mind that some individual Peppermint Shrimp are better at managing aiptasia while others may not be interested in aiptasia at all. Though considered part of the “cleaner” grouping of shrimp, Lysmata wurdemanni is more of a scavenger. The Peppermint Shrimp picks its way around your aquarium and live rock to consume detritus, uneaten food, and decomposing organic material. This ornamental member of the Hippolytidae family is brightly colored with a creamy white body striped with several thin and distinct longitudinal red bands.
Also known as the Veined or Caribbean Cleaner Shrimp, the Peppermint Shrimp is sometimes confused with its Pacific cousin, Rhynchocinetes durbanensis. However, that shrimp has a pointed nose and inter-spaced white stripes over its body. In the wild, Peppermint Shrimp are usually found in the vertical shafts of the reef. Some even take up residence in the core of pipe sponges. The Peppermint Shrimp does best in home aquariums with live rock, ample places to hide, as well as open areas to scavenge.
Peppermint Shrimp are very social and peaceful towards most reef inhabitants. Like other invertebrates, the Peppermint Shrimp cannot tolerate copper-based medications or high nitrate levels. It also requires supplemental iodine to encourage proper molting of its carapace. In addition to what it obtains from scavenging, the diet of the Peppermint Shrimp should consist of most types of prepared foods and the occasional pieces of fresh fish.
The Peppermint Shrimp has been successfully bred by commercial fish farms, and can be bred in the home aquarium. Rearing the larvae requires specialized feeds and care outside of the display aquarium
Ecoxotic Ultra Modern Nano Kits are IN NOW!
Just in … be the first to own the Ecopico Desktop Ultra Modern Nano Kit, or the 25 Gal Ecoxotic Nano Kit. Both very attractive, sleek modern designs.
ECOPICO Nano
The EcoPico desktop aquarium is an elegant, simple, and easy set-up. Its design makes it as much a work of art as a practical aquarium. The all-glass sides and frames maintain crystal clear visibility from any angle.
Unlike most aquariums, there’s no unsightly bulky filter or rain-gutter shaped light creating excess noise. The filter and air pump provided are specifically made for this aquarium, so the 80 gph will be just right. Bright 12K and 460nm LEDs create the perfect balance of light for maximum coloration. Unlike metal halide bulbs, LED lights are efficient, cool burning, quiet, and last up to 50,000 hours. Most importantly, this aquarium will only cost about $0.35 per month to operate.
Uses standard sponge filter (included).
Included in this kit is:
- 6mm glass rimless aquarium
- Discreet internal filter with pump
- Beveled glass top with mounting clips
- LED lighting arm
- Step-by-step instructions
- Filter Media
$127.17 for 1 strip model (buy additional strips optional)
ECOXOTIC 25 GAL SYSTEM Beautiful rimless 25 gallon tank includes all electrical equipment you need for fresh or saltwater systems. Includes 400 gph circulation pump, air-injection skimmer with 160 gph pump and 3 stage filtration with activated carbon, bio-media and mechanical filter pad. Also includes a built-in auto-top off system to ensure your tank won’t run dry. Add an Ecoxotic lighting unit (sold separately) and the Ecoxotic 25 is ready for your nano-reef. ECOXOTIC 25 Gal Aquarium Nano Kit
$291.67 for kit (light options separate)
Tank Ideas a plenty …
Create a jaw dropping conversation piece in your kitchen. Enclose in cabinetry to match your kitchen decor. Lights are enclosed above and filtration below. Another concept would be to have a flat finished wall, with all the equipment servicable from the pantry side.

How Do You Add Fun In Fish keeping
Are you worried that you may spend much time with the fish? I often hear people remark that although they enjoy their hobby, the routine maintenance of damage to the fun.
Depending on what month we will explore how we can increase our pleasure in taking perhaps a different approach to those mundane activities that are so crucial if we are to keep our fish in tip condition.
Create a plan
When you get some ‘time to spend with your hobby you’re going through a sort of mental conflict, wondering what to do? And when you finally decide, half the time has gone already.
WELL you are not alone; most fans share the same dilemma. BUT it is possible to overcome this problem, double your fun in the same aquarium. HOW? Well, certainly not by adding more tanks or even longer to his liking the answer lies in a change of mentality, a change of focus.
Have you ever noticed that some people seem to be always on top of your work, how their rooms and the fish tanks are always clean? The way they always seem to have much time to practice your leisure? Others, however, never a minute of life, which always seem to have much to do and yet nothing seems to be the most important ingredients in our formula Done for the aquarium fun is more planning.
Most of us lead busy lives, maintain a full time job and care for their family commitments, etc. Without a plan, it’s too easy to get out of our fish maintenance until another day when life is a Little less hectic. Unfortunately, most of the time, life is less hectic, and our maintenance jobs building up our tank (s) are dirty and our fish begin to suffer.
Include the family
This can be especially difficult when your partner does not share the love and enthusiasm for a hobby. And ‘natural that you have different priorities on time, and if harmony is preserved as a sort of agreement is made. Have a plan that includes both the family and the needs of your needs hobbies, is a long way to ensure that all requirements are met. The biggest obstacle to overcome in any hobby is a distraction.
Now, make no mistake I am not suggesting that we should not take the time to admire our fish, after all what is the reason we started keeping fish at first. What I am suggesting is that there is probably more appropriate time to sit and admire our fish. We can take time for that when we relax with the family, for example.
Be realistic
Ask yourself… your mindset is completely aware of your fish keeping? Maybe when you get some time one evening to have a pen and paper and take some notes along these lines. Have you ever wondered how much time and money you can afford to spend on hobbies? Think about it and write it down. You might think, for example, I …… can afford to work two nights a week, three hours each night and 5:01 Saturday. …… I can afford to spend £ 10 per month or £ 20 a month. Be as specific as possible, even if a given week may be necessary to change. The key is to have a clear idea of time and money commitment. These will be different for each aquarium, of course. The important thing is that the commitments that you are comfortable.
One of the common mistakes many of us fall on our hobby is to get out of hand. We engage in the aquarium or a visit to a garden center, pet shops or a friend and establish a deposit in our living room. Before long the error has taken over and introduced another tank, then another and before you know it, we find that we cannot cope with the water changes and cleaning of glass, etc. have to do simply to see the fish!

The Construction Of The Liner Ponds..!
Surprisingly, it is generally in mid-summer that many gardeners begin to think about installing a small pond or water garden to their garden. Ponds do not need to be weeded and watered, and they can supply exuberant color in the form of water lilies and bog plants in it.
By installing splashing fountain or waterfall in the pound, the sound is more appealing than weeding a flower bed or mowing that part of the lawn. What is the best, no matter how hot or humid it becomes, continues to flourish in a pond beautifully!
At this point you can start thinking about the coast, expense and labor of installing a concrete pond but the 94 degree days are enough to stop this ponds daydream in its tracks, don’t be sad.
However, with the arrival of new ships and pre-formed swimming pool, the misery associated with concrete mixing and finishing is a thing of the past. Heavy duty pool liners with 10 year guarantees are common now and can sell for as little as $ 1.00 per square foot.
Preformed ponds in many shapes and sizes are also an alternative way to quickly create a pond cheaper than concrete. The use of these materials, the average gardener can install a decent size pond in less than a day, and it is planted in crops, fish and fountain the next morning.
The simplest kind of pond to build is a pond over the field. Since no digging is required, it usually takes much longer to fill the basin with water than it takes to build it!
There are many variations on this theme, but as an example, one can use treated lumber planks which are at least 2 inches thick with 12 inches wide, nail them together in a rectangular shape of the desired dimensions, and instead of the form where the pond you want.
This bottomless “box” can be placed directly on grass, concrete, bridge, etc., and then the bottom is covered with a sort of padding or filler material. Most books say to use sand, but I think the perfect material is roofing felt. It’s cheap, comfortable, horizontal position, allows a barrier to weeds, and provides a good cushion liner.
Once the roofing felt is in place, the liner of the pool will be taken to the form and start filling the pool water. A few staples on the outside of the shape of the pond may be necessary to maintain the liner is blown into the pond, but be sure to use a few pieces and place them on the edge of the liner.
When the pond fills, the weight of the water do a good job in smoothing wrinkles, but if you’re a perfectionist, you can help smooth by hand until it no longer an inch of water in the bottom of the pond. While the pond is starting to fill, you can check the level of form, and if it is slightly raised on one or two pages, which can be done by taking care to insert shims to raise the forms when needed.
You should wait until the pond is completely filled before cutting any excess liner or doing any permanent stapling. This will give the water pressure enough time to pull the liner into every nook and cranny where it should go, and some few clips holding you used to hold the liner in place may actually come off the pond fills, but if you stapled the liner on the outside of the form near the edges, so no harm … You will cut some of the excess liner off, anyway.
We really want to fill this pond than it is to build it. Once I built from 08:00 to thirty foot pond in two hours, but it lasted all night, to fill with water.
I think an ideal depth of soil above the lake is about 14 centimeters, but may be more or less profound than that, depending on what materials you are using a form. Railway sleepers, timber landscape, concrete blocks, etc., are all possible materials for the construction of the pond.
Remember that all the wood is pressure treated, if you want it to last more than a year! Although I mentioned rectangular shape, if you have carpentry skills, you can also do triangles, pentagons, ponds within ponds, etc.
Ponds built with treated lumber planks do not have lateral support, if less than 8 meters or 10 feet long, and if you build higher than that, you want to drive a stake into the ground where the planks are be nailed together, if the water pressure will not make the planks bow outward. So if you know how to use twelve nails to nail four planks together, so you can build a pond. If you’re feeling lazy, the lumber yard cut the planks to the size you need. Stapler borrow your neighbor, find those scissors buried in the kitchen drawer, and you’re in business!
Pond liners can also be used to make a pond in the ground. The advantage is that you can make any shape pond you want, and the earth itself supports the sides of the shirt.
It’s a good idea to use a flexible hose to put out the pool shape you want. When all agree it’s a nice shape and is large enough, you can dig a trench along the pipe, and start digging.
Remember, the pool should not be over 12 to 16 inches in depth, so not too thrilled. If you want a waterfall, some of the excavated soil can be mounded around the waterfall in the pond for future construction. In some cases it may be useful to use some of the soil berm around the pond, so it’s another way to dispose of the excavation.
Once the pond is dug, check the level, decide which side you want excess rainfall derived from, and then be ready to line the hole with asphalt, across the pond in along the edges the lagoon. Remove the film, which weighs slightly with some rocks on the edges and begin to fill.
Again, do not cut any excess liner until the pond is completely filled. Some pond books say you should create a shallow shelf in the pond before putting online, but they are not our river sand and rain to deal with. I think it’s better to build the pond to a depth of 14-16 cm, and just use bricks to support these bog plants that do not want to sit too deep in water. This gives more flexibility in rearranging the pond plants you want and avoid accidents of a shelf suddenly collapse into the pool. When using pool liners, whether in ground or above ground, it is important to hide the edges of the sun, because that is what ultimately breaks most cruise ships.
Using stones or wooden planks to finish the edge of your pond, it will be more attractive and allow the liner to the height of the ten-year guarantee. Even heavier, preformed plastic ponds should have their edges covered by sod or some paving material, so that the sun cannot reach it. Some final pointers: if possible, locate your pond away from trees in an area that receives at least five hours of direct sunlight per day. This allows you to grow a wide variety of pond plants.
Be sure to use a dechlorinating product when you first fill the ponds … new chemicals in our drinking water does not spread quickly, and they will kill fish and damage your plants, even ten days after you have filled the pond!
Make sure you are satisfied with the size and shape of the pond before you start – so do not say: “I would have made bigger, or more, or round, etc.”, fill in two hours!
Rule number one in pond building is that no matter how big the pond is, you always want a bigger one.
Last but not least, if you decide to make a pond in the field, why not serve refreshments and get some friends to help him. Friends have all sorts of useful ideas on how you should do. This is good as long as they continue to dig.

Oceanic Aquarium Reveal The Ultimate Glass Series ™ With Starphire
Oceanic Systems has just released its new aquarium in a row, the last series Aquarius ™ Starphire with glass front. Increase the professionalism and elegance of a series of beveled glass aquariums Oceanic Precision polished face and edges. Posted on 22nd to 24th Feb-07 in World Pet Expo at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.
So what is Starphire glass, and what makes it so special? Starphire ™ is a registered trademark of PPG Industries. It is a world-class optically clear glass that is not the iron content of ordinary glass. The Reef Aquarium last for many years have had two choices when it comes to the materials, a standard glass aquarium, which is a greenish, or Plexiglas, which is optically very clear, but Plexiglas scratches easier than glass. Starphire™ glass, you have the best of both worlds, the durability of glass that is optically clear. The finest way to tell the differences between the transparency glass and glass Starphire, is to go throughout the length of 72 inch Starphire ™ glass and can see the objects on the opposite side. If you do the same thing with a piece of regular glass is dark colors! Of the corals and the fish seem to come alive in a glass aquarium Starphire ™.
Starphire ™ glass has been around for a while, used in aquariums custom high-end and very expensive. Oceanic Starphire ™ user in the anterior part of the series and Aquariums Ultimate Tech news surprisingly affordable. I would say that early deliveries are limited. Loveland Pet, a leading wholesaler of PET, held an exhibition for retailers in Cincinnati Aquarium 4 to March 5, 2007. 200 of the largest brokers were invited to the first night and second night was the open house. Few of the best retailers got a catalog with pictures of the aquariums. One of these distributors was Brothers Pets Kansas City, Missouri. As no guarantee Oceanic aquariums are not supplied by wholesalers to licensed retailers, it would be worth the drive if you live within 100 miles from a dealer that carries the new aquariums.
