Rare, delicate and hard to find corals, as well as our most popular specimens are reproduced in the store in our "frag" farm; a 400gallon system with protein skimmer, calcium reactor and 2160 watts of metal halide and T5HO Fluorescent lighting. Water quality is monitored and adjusted daily.
Our coral farming operations expanded in March 2005 with the addition of three new systems. Each of the new systems was specifically designed to reproduce the best environment for the corals they house. Each system runs on its own filtration package; including refugiums on our soft coral and low light species tanks, high quality protein skimmers and kalkwasser dosing systems. Lighting was chosen specifically for each system to maximize growth and colour; German engineered High Output T5's for our soft corals, 250w HQI Metal Halides for our SPS system and Power Compacts for our low light corals.

Coming from a controlled environment, the propagated corals are healthier, brighter and adapt to aquarium life better than collected species. Many species of coral, ie. Xenia, do not adapt well to aquariums when brought in from the wild. Our tanks raised "frags" thrive and multiply. As a result, we no longer need to collect those species from the wild. By growing our own corals, we are able to provide a larger selection of healthier corals at greatly reduced costs, while protecting wild reefs from over collection.
