Info - Custom Sumps
When designing a filter tank for your aquarium, there are a few factors to consider.
Here's how we can help:
- The water volume of your sump should be close or more than 30% of your main tank (IE: 90 gal aquarium should have a sump of 30 gal)
- Under Tank Installs: Consider the height of your stand in relation to your sump tank, will you have enough room to work in the sump tank? If your stand is not at least 32" high you may need to make the sump a little longer & shorter to still achieve the same volume.
- Remote Sump Tanks: If your filtration is in a different room or in basement below, you can make the sump larger so more water can be handled. At a minimum the sump should be large enough to handle back the amount of water in the pipes. Basement installs have lots of extra options as well, like plumbing an overflow to the floor drain, etc.
- Other things to consider is the number of media dividers and filter socks you would like.
We can discuss all your options with you, as well as show you sumps in operation at our store.
