MicroBacter QuikCycl Ammonia Nutrient for Fishless Cycle 2oz

Brightwell Aquatic`s MicroBacter QuikCycl is a professional grade ammonia nutrient designed specifically for fish-less cycling. When used in conjunction with a quality bacterial culture, MicroBacter QuikCycl establishes a strong nitrifying bacterial bed in both freshwater and marine aquariums. It is important to continue proper testing of pH, ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate in your aquarium while cycling your tank with MicroBacter QuickCycle. It is also imperative that you do not overdose the product, and be sure to read all instructions and manufacturer warnings prior to use. NEVER add MicroBacter QuickCycle to an aquarium containing live fish, plants, or invertebrates. DO NOT attempt to add animals before cycling is complete.

Caution: Contains Ammonia, Keep out of reach of children. Not for human consumption. If swallowed, contact a poison control center immediately.

MicroBacter QuikCycl is to be used in conjunction with a LIVE bacterial culture, such as MicroBacter Start XLM or MicroBacter Start XLF, in order to establish the bacteria bed in your aquarium. It is important to note that a successful aquarium cycle is dependent on the quality of your nitrifying bacteria, so take care to ensure that whichever bacteria culture you choose has not expired or been stored at improper (excessive heat or below freezing) temperatures.

How to Perform a Fishless Cycle with MicroBacter QuikCycl:

Day One:
  • Turn off protein skimmer and UV sterilizer. Remove fine filtration such as socks. Ensure aquarium
is equipped with biological filtration media to provide surface area for bacterial colonization
  • Ensure water is free of chloramine and chlorine by using a good dechlorinator, such as Brightwell Erase
  • Prepare water and adjust pH, alkalinity, and temperature
  • Add full dose of QuikCycl at 4 drops per gallon or 1 ml per 5 gallons of tank capacity
  • Use a test kit to ensure Ammonia is between 1 and 2 ppm, which is ammonia plus ammonium
(NH3 and NH4+). Do not add more to get the proper reading either today or throughout the days that follow.
This is because the bacteria will quickly begin to use up the ammonia, and even though added, it will may not
    show up on your tests.
  • Add a live bacterial culture, such as MicroBacter Start XLM or MicroBacter Start XLF, as directed.
Day Two: Measure pH, Ammonia and Nitrite and record values.
Day Three: Measure pH, Ammonia and Nitrite and record values.
Day Four: Measure pH, Ammonia and Nitrite. If either Ammonia or Nitrite are over .25 ppm, then you can add more
bacteria, if desired.
Day Five:: Measure pH, Ammonia and Nitrite and record values.
Day Six:: Measure pH, Ammonia and Nitrite. If either Ammonia or Nitrite are over .25 ppm, then you can add more
bacteria, if desired.
Day Seven:: Measure pH, Ammonia and Nitrite. If using MicroBacter Start XLM, MicroBacter Start XLF and your Ammonia
and Nitrite show zero, then measure Nitrate. If Nitrate is showing .25 ppm or higher, then your aquarium is
cycled. If using any other bacteria, then go to Day 8.
Day Eight:: Measure pH, Ammonia and Nitrite and record values.
Day Nine & Subsequent Days?:: Measure pH, Ammonia and Nitrite. If Ammonia + Nitrite value is zero, then measure nitrate and if there
is a reading of Nitrate at .25 ppm or higher, then the aquarium is cycled.
When Cycling is Complete:: Perform a 25% water change and begin adding hardy animals, SLOWLY. Restart UV, skimmer and filtration.
Adding too many animals too quickly can throw off your biological filtration and result in livestock loss,
so go slow!
